Ingredients
- 1 3/4 cups rolled oats
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 3/4 cup butter
- 1/4 tsp soda
- 1 cup brown sugar
Filling
- 2 cups dates
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
Instructions
- Combine ingredients for filling.
- Simmer until thick.
- Cool.
- Sift soda with flour.
- Combine flour, brown sugar and oats.
- Work in butter.
- Pat 1/2 mixture in 9x9 greased pan.
- Spread date filling over oat mixture.
- Pat the other 1/2 of oat mixture on top.
- Bake at 375F for 45 minutes.
- Cut into squares when cool.
