Ingredients
- 4 oz baking chocolate
- 5 tbsp butter
- 3 oz cream cheese
- 1 cup sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 cup + 1 tsp flour
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts
- 1/4 tsp almond extract
Instructions
- Melt chocolate and 3 tbsp butter over low heat.
- Cool.
- Cream the remaining butter with cream cheese.
- Gradually add 1/4 cup sugar, creaming until light and fluffy.
- Stir in 1 egg, 1 tbsp flour and 1/2 tsp vanilla until blended.
- Set aside.
- In another bowl, beat remaining eggs until fluffy and light in colour.
- Gradually add remaining 3/4 cup sugar.
- Beat until thick.
- Fold in baking powder, salt and 1/2 cup flour.
- Blend in cooled chocolate mixture.
- Stir in nuts, almond extract and 1 tsp vanilla.
- Set aside 1 cup chocolate batter.
- Spread remaining batter on a greased 9 inch square pan.
- Pour cheese mixture over top.
- Drop measured chocolate batter by tbsp onto the cheese mixture.
- Swirl mixture to marbleize.
- Bake at 350F for 35-40 minutes.
- Cool.
- Cut in bars and store covered in fridge.
